Damascus : Syrian air defense forces prevented an Israeli missile attack on the capital Damascus late Friday, but explosions were heard in areas around the capital, according to state media. There is no immediate information on damages or casualties yet.
Last month, five soldiers were killed in an Israeli attack in the Syrian capital Damascus. A few months earlier in June, the Damascus airport was out of service for almost two weeks due to Israeli air strikes.
Aleppo airport has been hit by Israeli airstrikes twice in the past month. Since the outbreak of civil war in Syria in 2011, Israel has launched hundreds of attacks on its northern neighbors.
Although Israel does not comment on individual attacks, it has admitted to have carried out hundreds of attacks.
Israel says that its air campaign is necessary to prevent its arch enemy Iran from gaining a foothold in the country.
