Tehran: The Iranian plainclothes army has kidnapped Darish Farhoud, an 85-year-old professor of medical and clinical genetics, known as the father of Iranian genetics.
According to reports, there is no information about where and why he was taken after the security forces arrested him from his house.

Earlier this year, Farhoud strongly criticized the regime's plans to ban prenatal screening and legal abortion, calling the ban a violation of human rights. He called it a backward step from 200 years ago.
The government's population and family planning program includes limitations on contraceptives, vasectomy and tubectomy, and prenatal screening for genetic abnormalities and congenital diseases.
Earlier this year, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said efforts to increase the country's population was one of the Islamic republic's most urgent duties and essential policies.
