Malnutrition among children increased by 47 percent in Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan], Nov 1 (ANI): After the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, the economic crisis has shattered the lives of the country's people, leaving its people poor and hungry. The organization Save the Children presented a report on Monday which shows that cases of malnutrition among Afghan children have increased by almost 47 percent since the beginning of this year.

According to Khama Press's report, about 2,500 poor children were treated by the humanitarian organization "Save the Children" in January, and now this number has increased to about 4,270 children, many of whom died before treatment.

Highlighting the plight of Afghan children following the Taliban regime, the Country Director of Save the Children in Afghanistan said, “Humanitarian organizations like Save the Children are trying to stop the children dying of hunger every day in Afghanistan.

"But the truth is, so many children are facing deadly levels of hunger that we don't have the resources to save them all." Afghanistan is currently facing a serious humanitarian crisis, with more than 23 million people in need of immediate assistance. Only 5% have enough food and 95% lack food.

In addition, the ever-increasing prices of food products in the country have emerged as a new challenge for Afghans. In less than three months, food prices have nearly doubled, putting many Afghans on the brink of starvation. (ANI)
