Mecca: Saudi Arabia carried out regular maintenance work on the Holy Kaaba Kiswa in Mecca to preserve the appearance of the holy site.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that, special teams repaired some cracks on the lower part of Kiswa.
The King Abdulaziz Complex also dedicated a day to install a new silk fabric around the lower part of Kaaba.
Fahad Al-Jabiri, director of administration for the maintenance of Kaaba Kiswa, said the repairs were part of Kaaba Kiswa's year-long care and maintenance, which have completed in perfect time without affecting Umrah pilgrims.
The General Presidency oversaw the affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Holy Mosque of the Prophet, while the King Abdulaziz Complex for Kaaba Kiswa was represented by the Agency and the General Administration for Kiswa Maintenance.
The current Kiswa was established in the Kaaba during the new Islamic year of Muharram 1, 1444, which was on 30 July of this year.
Kiswa is a extra special cloth that covers the Holy Kaaba. Kiswa is changed every year. Which has now become a tradition.
