A former San Diego resident has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for Support and funding ISIS in Syria.

SAN DIEGO - Abdullahi Ahmed Abdullahi, a Canadian citizen and former San Diego resident, sentenced Monday by a federal court to 20 years in prison for conspiring to provide material aid to terrorists engaged in violent activities such as murder, kidnapping and maiming.

US Attorney Randy Grossman said: "We have sentenced a man who financed terrorists to commit violent crimes." Our most important job is to protect Americans from terrorists.

FBI in-charge Stacey Moy said, “Abdullah first committed violent, illegal acts to obtain money, then used that money to support terror representing ISIS. FBI Will continue the investigation against those who helped in this way.

According to the government's sentencing memorandum, Abdullahi provided both money and personnel to support the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). From November 2013 to March 2014, Abdullahi traveled to Syria, encouraging, aiding and financially supporting six North American citizens, where they joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). These six individuals included three of his cousins ​​from Edmonton, Canada, an 18-year-old cousin from Minneapolis, as well as Douglas Mc Author McCain, a San Diego resident. Later these six persons were killed while fighting for ISIS.

Abdullah admitted that he paid ISIS third-party mediators in Turkey's Gaziantep (located about 40 miles from the Syrian border) in order to continue supporting his conspirators in violent jihad.
