Indian Union Women's League (IUWL) national general secretary PK Noorbina Rashid has said that no changes will be made in Muslim personal law by any committee belonging to the department which would be against or contrary to Islamic/Shariah law. Grievances, Law and Justice, which was formed to review personal laws in the country.
IUWL is the women's wing of the Indian Union Muslim League in the state of Kerala.
The IUWL leader said in a memorandum to Rajya Sabha Secretariat Deputy Secretary Gautam Kumar that the Muslim Personal Law was created to allow Muslims to follow the teachings of the Quran. He said that personal laws based on religion, faith and belief have been made for a particular class or group of people according to the Indian Constitution.
Noorbina Rashid said that people of different castes and religions live in India, the faith and belief of Muslims are based on Quran and Sunnah.
