Varanasi: The Gyanvapi Masjid Committee yesterday lodged an objection to the Hindu side's demand for a survey of two underground places (basement) in the mosque premises.
District government's lawyer Mahendra Pandey told that the Hindu side had demanded a survey by opening the locks of the closed cellars in the Gyanvapi complex.
On this, the lawyers of the Masjid Committee presented their objection before the court on Wednesday, while the Hindu side sought time from the court to file the petition again, after which the district court has fixed November 11 as the next date of hearing. Case.
SM Yasin, Joint Secretary, Anjuman Intejamiya Masjid Committee, said that his lawyer objected citing the Supreme Court order, which is clear in the Supreme Court order that there should be no change in the existing mosque complex area.
The lawyer for the Hindu side had applied in the court seeking protection of the idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh found in the Gyanvapi complex. The court had given the Muslim side 10 days to file their objection.
During the hearing on Wednesday, Justice Vishvesh said that in future, no more than a week will be given to both the sides to file objections in any matter.
During the last hearing on October 21, the Masjid Committee had sought more time from the court to file its objection.
The court had fined the mosque panel Rs 100 for not registering its objection on time. -- PTI
