Iraqi police officials said a US citizen was killed on Monday in central Baghdad after he failed to abduct him.
Sources said the body was taken to a hospital in the capital's Karrada district and initial reports suggested that the death was caused by a bullet injury.
Giving more information, the police said that an identity card has been found from the deceased, from which we have come to know that he was a teacher of English by profession.
The police chief said some armed men in a vehicle opened fire on an SUV carrying the victim, killing him. "Our preliminary investigation and eyewitnesses suggest that the armed men were trying to kidnap a US citizen."
