Turkey plans to hit targets in northern Syria after completing a cross-border operation against the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iraq, a senior official told Reuters yesterday in retaliation for a deadly weekend bombing in Istanbul. .

"There is an operation going on in Iraq against the PKK. After that is completed there are some targets in Syria."
